The story of Hinder
Hinder was started when Cody and Blower met in college.
They first met Austin when the cover band he was in played at a house party. Several weeks later, Austin crashed a party
at Cody's house, wandered into his room, and found his guitars and drums. They struck up a conversation and became
friends.
Along with Cole Parker(no information) on
bass, the band began playing locally. They chose the name Hinder after looking up frustrated in the thesaurus due to their
frustration with being unable to agree on a name. Eventually, they decided to record an independent album and Far From
Close was made. Only 5000 copies were pressed and sold in Oklahoma.
When the band decided to record a second
independent album, they took out a loan and headed to Vancouver to record with producer Brian Howes. Instead of an album,
they wound up with a 6 song EP that was shipped to record labels. They returned home and Mike and Mark joined the band. After
three shows, three labels made offers and they signed with Universal. They returned to Vancouver to record Extreme
Behavior, once again working with Howes. Howes helped Cody and Austin with their songwriting and EB was released
on September 27, 2005 and peaked at number 6 on Billboard on November 11, 2006. After several singles, including the hit Lips
of an Angel, Better Than Me, and Get Stoned, the album was certified triple platinum on January 24, 2008.
The boys returned
to the studio in January of 2008 to record their second album, once again working with Howes. Their second album, Take
It To The Limit, was released on November 4, 2008. Several singles have been released, including Use Me, Without You,
and Up All Night. With several different versions of the disc released on the first day, it peaked at number 4 on Billboard
on November 22, 2008.

At a glance....
Far From Close
The boys first album. Only 5000 copies made and sold mostly in Oklahoma. Next to impossible to find, having sold on eBay for
over $200. Before Mike and Mark joined. Very different sound than Extreme Behavior. Can be found on youtube but it has been
said that the boys don't want it passed around. When I asked Austin myself, he said "It was just so long ago" which could
go either way.
The Hinder Army
Started as a street team by friends of the band. These were GREAT people who truly believed in the boys and helped get them noticed. Sometime in late
2006, Universal decided to take the name and make it into a fan club. For a fee, you got a T-shirt and meet and greet tickets for shows. The second year added more benefits for renewal.
FanCorps The
new version of the Street Team, http://hinder.fancorps.com/ has orders for members to complete that help promote the band. (If you join, say RexRox sent ya!)
